In Invisible Tracks McLean sources recent Internet images of Iraq for a series of videos where the image is pulled apart, erased, delineated and reassembled in an effort to negotiate the convoluted relationship of spectatorship to empathy. Typically hidden from view, procedural tools used for retouching and manipulating photographs become incorporated into the images, a reminder that the image is capable of being altered and changed continuously and without trace.
The Eternal Quarter Inch will screen at PDX as part of Mysterious Journeys, Shorts Program #4. Alongside friends Jesse Hulcher and Thad Kellstadt! And with other great folks such as Ben Russell, Deborah Stratman, Jennifer Montgomery and more!

Susanne Ghez, director of the Renaissance Society and guest curator for New Insight has selected works by the following MFA candidates for inclusion in New Insight, one of Art Chicago’s most anticipated onsite exhibitions. Each selected student has made it through an extensive and highly competitive selection process that begins within their own department.
